Senator Murkowski’s Campaign Caught in Lies
Anchorage Alaska, September 13th, 2016 – A spokesman for Alaska’s Senior Senator, Lisa Murkowski, was quoted recently as saying that Murkowski “remains pro-life“. With Murkowski’s pro-Planned Parenthood record, this statement is hard to swallow and leaves Alaskans wondering what other untruths the Murkowski campaign is spreading as the election for US Senate heats up.
Murkowski has time and time again reaffirmed her support for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largestabortion chain, even breaking from most other Republican Senators to vote in favor of continuing the organization’s federal funding.
Planned Parenthood praised Murkowski for her vote saying “Planned Parenthood is again thankful to Senator Lisa Murkowski for standing with the women, men and young people in our state”.
“What Planned Parenthood is leaving out is the recent scandal that caught them in the midst of selling baby body parts from the children they abort. At a time like this, when most politicians are distancing themselves from the scandal-ridden organization, Murkowski is cozying up to them and reaffirming her allegiance to their mission” said Christopher Kurka, Alaska Right to Life’s Executive Director, “a mission that is solely focused on the destruction of innocent human life”.
Since being appointed to the United States Senate by her father in 2002, Senator Murkowski has repeatedly supported abortion “rights,” voting in 2003 to affirm the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade, averring that it was “appropriate and secures an important constitutional right . . . and such decision should not be overturned.”
Murkowski earned an 80% approval rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America in 2014. Murkowski has gone further to the left on this issue than most Republicans, even supporting the claim from left-leaning politicians that the GOP is waging a war on women.
Speaking of the GOP’s ideological platform on the issue of abortion, Murkowski said “It makes no sense to make this attack on women”. She further stated that “If you don’t feel this is an attack, you need to go home and talk to your wife and your daughters”.
“Murkowski is obviously out of touch with the very women who she claims are being attacked. A Marist Poll, released in January of this year, shows that, rather than feeling “attacked”, 79% of women believe that pro-life laws protect both the child and the mother” Kurka countered.
“Murkowski has long been a thorn in the side of pro-life Alaskans. Her continual attack on pro-life efforts on the Federal level has left voters disappointed and ready to replace her with someone who they feel will truly represent their deeply-held beliefs” Kurka finished.
