Whereas: Chemical Abortions have surged to 59% of all abortions in 2024, claiming 720 babies lives.
Whereas: SB 147 creates a legal gateway for Pharmacists to Dispense Chemical Abortions, crossing a line no state should permit;
Whereas: SB 147 aligns with the national push to convert pharmacies into Abortion Pill Mills and is patterned after Washington State’s Pharmacist Abortion Access Project;
Whereas: Alaska’s Courts have already expanded abortion access beyond licensed physicians to Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Midwives. SB 147 would expand abortion access into pharmacies, turning them into Alaska’s Abortion Pill Mills.
Whereas: God made man in His own image (Genesis 1:26), human life begins at conception, and God instituted government to protect the right to live (Genesis 9:6);
THEREFORE: I urge ALL of Alaska’s Elected Representatives to vote NO and STOP SB 147, the gateway to Pharmacy Dispensed Abortions, without apology, exception or compromise. Do not make Alaska the next link in the chain of death, forged by convenience and ratified by cowardice.
The number of Chemical Abortions in Alaska has more than doubled in five years – from 307 in 2019 to 720 in 2024. That’s 720 babies killed by abortion pills like Mifepristone and Misoprostol – and that number is growing every year.
For every ten chemical abortions, one woman ends up in the emergency room with serious or life-threatening complications. These are not “safe” abortions. Every abortion harms a mother – and every abortion kills a child.
In 2024, the Alaska Superior Court ruled that nurse practitioners and physician assistants can legally perform abortions up to 16 weeks, opening the door to more abortions in Alaska.
Now SB 147 pushes that door open even farther, converting pharmacists into abortionists and converting Alaska’s corner drug store into Abortion Pill Mills.

Senator Cathy Giessel’s SB 147 must be stopped.
