The Planned Parenthood abortion business must be feeling the heat for its opposition to the ban on sex-selection abortions — as one of its top officials has written a letter to the editor to the Washington Post to clarify its position. The letter seeks to assure Americans that Planned Parenthood truly does oppose sex-selection abortions — despite opposition to efforts to ban them and two expose’ videos showing Planned Parenthood staffers willing to arrange them for potential abortion customers.

In the letter, Chloë Cooney, director of global advocacy at the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, writes:

“In his op-ed regarding the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act [“The real war on women,” June?1], Rep. Christopher H. Smith (R-N.J.) claimed that Planned Parenthood is “okay with exterminating a child .?.?. simply because she’s a girl” and referred to a coordinated hoax patient campaign that used highly unusual patient scenarios in an effort to discredit Planned Parenthood’s services, mission and values.

Smith asserted that Planned Parenthood supports sex-selection abortions. This is simply untrue. Planned Parenthood opposes sex-selection abortion. Planned Parenthood organizations have extensive guidelines and training requirements for all staff. If any Planned Parenthood organization learns of an instance where a staff member has not fully followed policies or procedures, it will take swift action and remedy the situation.

Still, Cooney said the abortion business opposed the sex-selection abortion ban because it would “have cast suspicion on doctors who serve communities facing the greatest health disparities, many of which are minority communities.” In other words, doctors would be required to report requests for unlawful sex-selection abortions (as is the case in other nations that ban them) but that’s too much a burden apparently.

“Whatever one thinks about abortion, it is a deeply personal and complex decision that is best left to a woman, her family and her doctor,” Cooney concludes — putting Planned Parenthood on record, again, as promoting abortions for any reason the customer chooses.
