Dear Mr. Dunleavy, Alaska House Representatives, and Alaska State Senators,

Dear Mr. Dunleavy, Alaska House Representatives, and Alaska State Senators,

2020 marks the 50th year of legalized abortion in Alaska making Alaska one of the most progressive and abortion friendly states in America.

The 1960’s and 1970’s showed us rabid abortion activism in our State Legislature when the State Senate attempted two separate pro-abortion bills and eventually overcame Governor Keith Miller’s veto of the bill that legalized abortion in Alaska.

Today, Alaska leads the nation as a model state for abortion access according to the Guttmacher Institute and NARAL / Pro-Choice America.

Planed Parenthood now controls nearly one-half of the State’s Legislature and more than half of the most influential House Committees through their endorsed and funded proxies in our House of Representatives.

Planned Parenthood’s control over our Legislature increased in 2019 when Republican Representatives Chuck Kopp (R, District 24), Jennifer Johnston (R, District 28), and Gary Knopp (R, District 30) conspired to surrender the House Majority to abortion friendly Democrats.

Republican Senate President Cathy Giessel also discarded party and principle as she opposes the introduction of the Life At Conception Act in the Senate and even offered her own abortion access expanding bill (SB124).  Senate President Giessel’s current partnership with abortion proponent Bryce Edgemon further hinders the introduction and voting of the Life At Conception Act.

Finally, the Republican surrender of a 23 – 15 majority in the House has only increased Planned Parenthood’s control over the Legislature and prevented the Alaska Life At Conception Act from a single hearing.

But I can vote, and I do.

As an Alaskan voter, I call on my elected representatives to support the Alaska Life At Conception Act.  House Bill 178 deserves a hearing and I am counting on your vote of support for the Life At Conception Act to be heard and debated during the second regular legislative session of the 31st Legislature.

The Alaska LIFE At Conception Act is based on accurate science and constitutional law, guarantying the right to life for all persons from Conception to natural end of life.

The Alaska Life At Conception Act is the only bill in Alaska that:

  • Is based on accurate science and constitutional law.
  • Guarantees the right to life to all persons from conception to natural death.
  • Defines ALL CHILDREN as ‘natural persons’ from the moment of conception.
  • Eliminates ALL exceptions that allow children to be killed because of their race, sex, chromosomal and genetic condition, age, size, or the nature of their conception.
  • Comprehensively addresses existing statute, case law, State and US Constitutional law.
  • Completely abolishes abortion.

Governments are formed for the good of the governed and the protection of their rights.  After 50 years of legalized and government subsidized abortion, it’s clear that Alaska’s government has strayed far from its constitutional mandate.

It’s time to make the Life at Conception Act law and I am calling on you to perform your duty and exercise your authority as my elected representatives to face the difficult but worthy task of being a voice for the voiceless in our state’s government.
