From Genesis 6:9 and throughout the Bible, God’s design for governments is for them to protect innocent human life and punish evil. Scripture never authorizes governments to take the lives of children, nor to pay for their deaths.
The Alaska State Constitution does not recognize a ‘right’ to abortion or the funding of it. However, Article 1, Section 1 explicitly states that “All persons have a natural right to life,” underscoring a commitment to protecting all innocent human life.
Additionally, in overturning Roe v Wade, the US Supreme Court affirmed in Dobbs v Jackson that since the Constitution does not recognize a “right to abortion,” then it clearly DENIES any right to abortion funding as well.
PETITION
The US and Alaskan Constitutions, as affirmed by Dobbs v. Jackson, do not recognize a right to abortion or its funding. Given the Alaska Constitution’s affirmation that “All persons have a natural right to life… equal rights… and equal protections.” Therefore, I urge Alaska’s Governor and legislators to prohibit all abortion funding and refuse to pay for a single baby to be killed by abortion.
To protect babies, the Alaska Operating Budget must contain the following amendment(s):
“Medicaid Services for or relating to abortion: $0
“No transfer may be made into the Medicaid Services for or relating to Abortion appropriation.”
