Abortion Pills claimed 730 babies’ lives in 2025;

Insurance data shows that 1 in 10 women that take abortion pills experience serious or life-threatening adverse events;

I call on Governor Dunleavy to VETO HB 195 without apology, exception, or compromise. HB 195 is a poison pill for ALL Alaskans.

Veto Petition

Governor Dunleavy,

Abortion Pills claimed 730 babies’ lives in 2025;

Insurance data shows that 1 in 10 women that take abortion pills experience serious or life-threatening adverse events;

HB 195 would allow pharmacists to Prescribe, Administer, and Dispense Abortion Pills;

I call on Governor Dunleavy to VETO HB 195 without apology, exception, or compromiseHB 195 is a poison pill for ALL Alaskans.

Defend the most vulnerable—without apology, exception, or compromise.

Background

Abortion pills like Misoprostol and Mifepristone now kill more babies in Alaska than any other abortion drug, device, or procedure.

HB 195 began as a simple pharmacy modernization bill—meant to improve healthcare access, especially in rural Alaska, by giving pharmacists limited prescription authority.

But when Big Pharma and BIG ABORTION got their hands on HB 195, the bill became something else entirely: a Frankenstein’s monster of legislative malpractice.

For more than a year, Rep. Justin Ruffridge (R), Planned Parenthood-endorsed Rep. Genevieve Mina (D), and Sen. Cathy Giessel (R) insisted HB 195 would not affect abortion law.

Technically, they did not need to change abortion law.

Alaska’s courts had already done the dirty work for them.

By opening the door for “qualified healthcare practitioners” to perform drug-induced abortions, the courts created the loophole. HB 195 simply gives that loophole legs.

After pressure from Alaska Right to Life members, Ruffridge and Mina offered an amendment dressed up as “pro-life protection”—but rotten with abortion-pill loopholes.

Then, on May 11, 2026, in a committee packed with SIX pro-abortion Democrats, Rep. Elexie Moore of Wasilla (R) carried BIG ABORTION’S loophole-laden amendment to HB 195.

And as if carrying water for the abortion lobby were not enough, Republican Reps. Moore, Stapp, and Bynum joined Democrats in a 9–2 vote to KILL the amendment that would have closed those loopholes.

On May 14, 2026, those same Republicans completed their betrayal of babies waiting to be born—and their mothers—by allowing HB 195 to advance to a full House floor vote without a single objection.

HB 195 is expected to pass from the Alaska House to the Alaska Senate by Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The mask is off.

HB 195 has never been about pharmacy modernization.

It is BIG ABORTION’S abortion-pill pipeline.
