Dear Governor Michael J. Dunleavy, Senate President Peter Micciche, Senate Majority Leader Shelley Hughes, Speaker of the House Louise Stutes, and House Minority Leader Cathy Tilton,
As evidenced nationwide, abortion is now at the most crucial point since 1973 with states enacting either total and complete infanticide, or total and complete protection of human life. Abortion is at the center of nearly every national debate as pro-abortion candidates compete for the most radical positions and plan for the destruction of innocent human life in the womb – plans they will force on Alaska if our state remains indifferent to the children killed in the womb with state funds.
I stand with Alaska Right to Life and encourage you to immediately halt payments on abortion claims and block every conceivable use of state funds for killing babies in the budget.
As a state, we must never again pay for a single child to be killed in his mother’s womb.
While your action will not protect every child at risk of being killed in his mother’s womb, halting abortion claim payments will save more lives than every effort to protect children in the womb since abortion was legalized by the Alaska Legislature in 1970.
Alaska Right to Life has clearly outlined the authority to act and the difficulty that will follow. But any difficulty that you and I suffer will be for a short season, while the effects – good or ill – of our actions will last a lifetime for the children you stand to save.
So please save those babies that are within your authority and ability to protect.
Most urgently and respectfully,
